Student Lead Project Fundraiser - C.A.N.T. Student Group

Hello, We are three students studying at Northwestern Polytechnic(formerly Grande Prairie Regional College) in Grande Prairie. We have created this fundraiser from Ft. Simpson, NT, Sylvan Lake, AB, and Grande Prairie, AB remotely. As a group project to help fundraise for an organization of our choosing, we chose to raise funds for RMHC Alberta. We chose to fundraise for RMHC Canada in the hope to take some stress away from the families that need to focus on their sick children while being able to stay together to hold each other up. Our group personally knows how hard it is to be separated from the rest of your family to stay with your sick child. One had a stay at the RMHC while their premature baby got the care she needed, and the other shared a hospital room with her sick baby for 9 days and was away from the rest of her family. Ashley's experience- My daughter was born at 21 weeks weighing 1.4 pounds. She was born in the Toronto hospital where she was airlifted to sick kids. We were blessed to be able to stay at the RMHC in Toronto while she was intubated. We were treated so well with friendly amazing staff who truly cared! We got to meet other families that were going through the same pain we had and came together as a big family group. After 2 months of staying in the Toronto RMHC, our daughter was airlifted to the Edmonton hospital where we got to experience the RMH there. The stay there was only a month but the experience was exceptional. Our daughter was then transported to the Red Deer hospital where we stayed for another month. The RMH there was also amazing, we were only there a few times as we lived much closer at this point so the drive wasn't as bad. The amazing experiences of all these places were astonishing, from the food that was provided to the safe and private rooms that felt like home. Their locations were also very roomy with game rooms, library rooms, outdoor play structures, etc. Nothing is cheap to run these places and the ability for them to make it affordable was even more surprising! If it wasn't for RMH this whole experience would have been financially draining to our family. Thank you for your donation to the RMHC - Alberta Chapter.
