COVID-19: An Update from RMHC Canada

Covid Article Update En

Latest update on RMHC across Canada and how you can help.

Over these last few months, Ronald McDonald House Charities across Canada has put the health and safety of families, staff and volunteers at the forefront. In response to the pandemic, RMHC has remained committed to serving existing families with sick children, frontline healthcare workers and hospital partners across our communities, as a recognized essential service.

As we continue to navigate today’s realities, we are pleased to share that RMHC across Canada is safely welcoming new families into all Ronald McDonald House programs across Canada.

Each Ronald McDonald House is committed to ensuring the highest level of safety and security for families, staff and volunteers, working in close consultation with local hospital partners and healthcare authorities. This includes the continued implementation of policies and procedures such as physical distancing, enhanced screening, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and advanced cleaning procedures.

As part of our ongoing partnerships with children’s and community hospitals, some Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located right inside hospitals will continue to be temporarily repurposed to provide rest and respite for frontline healthcare workers.

In Alberta, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will resume its service of providing basic medical care to underserved communities across Alberta.

As a valued champion of RMHC and the families we serve - thank you for your continued support. We remain committed to helping families with sick children and healthcare partners in our communities when it’s needed most.

What you can do to help

As an organization that relies on over 23,000 volunteers annually and thousands of donors, just like you, to help deliver our mission, RMHC across Canada is experiencing a time of great need as programs shift in response to COVID-19, including cancellation of fundraising events and volunteer meal programs, all while families and hospital partners continue to look to us for support. Across Canada, RMHC is experiencing up to 40% reduction in funding.

If you are able to make a donation, please visit our donate page to support RMHC in your community.
