Doug Blaine peacefully passed away on June 8, 2023, at the age of 73. If you had the privilege of knowing Doug, consider yourself fortunate, for he was truly one of a kind. He was renowned for his collection of incredible tales, whether they unfolded on the baseball field, in the ice hockey arena, on the farm, or at the corner pub. Yet, beyond his sense of humour, Doug possessed one of the most generous and compassionate hearts one could ever encounter. His affections were divided between two true loves: his family and the fast-food haven known as McDonald's. Yes, you read that correctly. After Papa's passing, when his phone became part of our family's possessions, we uncovered an astonishing secret. Doug had accumulated an astounding 80,000 McDonald's points on the app, primarily from savouring his beloved McGriddle combo meal for an impressive 35 consecutive days at one point. After Doug's departure, Cooper, Doug's beloved grandson, felt the need to honour his grandfather's memory. After considering various charitable organizations to collaborate with, it finally clicked. Few organizations bring together the world of McDonald's and families quite like RMHC (Ronald McDonald House Charities). In addition to financial contributions, the Blaine family’s Flyer Cattle Co. is proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Purebred Hereford bred heifer, Flyer-Cattle Sage 7K, will be donated. This exceptional heifer will be available for purchase on December 1st at the MHA Good as Gold Sale in Brandon, Manitoba. In these challenging times, we see this as a unique opportunity for all of us to give back to our community, either through acquiring Sage 7K or through monetary donations. What better way to honor the memory of Doug Blaine than by contributing to our community. On December 1st, 2023 at 1pm, the Manitoba Hereford Association will be hosting its annual Good as Gold Sale at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. The Blaine family is pleased to announce that they have consigned two animals to this event. Notably, 30% of the net proceeds from Lot 36, Flyer-Cattle Sage 7K will be generously donated to RMHC Manitoba in loving memory of Doug Blaine. Flyer Cattle Co. is open to discussions with potential buyers who may be interested in these two heifers for sale in this years event.
