In Support of Ethan Hunter

My name is Kylee McCutcheon and this is the inspiration behind the fundraiser. My nephew Ethan, now 16, was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma T-Cell Leukemia in August 2022, only days before his 15th birthday. In July 2024, Ethan is still fighting his battle with cancer. Ethan will remain in the Children's Hospital in London receiving chemo almost daily, as the doctor team there try to force his body into remission over then next 4-6 weeks. If Ethan goes into remission, he will need a 10/10 bone marrow transplant. This would be completed in Toronto, where Ethan would have to stay for 3 months to a year in complete isolation and has a 20% survival rate. Ethan is currently receiving blood transfusions daily and if not, every other day. He is also receiving 1-2 bags of platelets every day. He is permanently on oxygen now. Ethans family has had to rely on the Ronald McDonald House for support for the last couple of years. I had the chance to visit the Ronald McDonald House in September 2022 and was blown away by the support and love these families receive there. My heart was overwhelmed by all the amenities the Ronald McDonald foundation make available to these families. It truly is an outstanding foundation and I would love to help more. I've always participated in McHappy Day (I have the socks to prove it!), but never really understood the full impact of what they do until my family needed their help. I want to help more. I have seen first hand, how impactful the Ronald McDonald House and all their volunteers have been to my family. My friend Jenn Ford and I put our heads together to see how we could help. We are both card makers and share a passion for bringing smiles to peoples faces one card at a time!
