Operation Joy
Je recueille 1 000 $ pour OMRM du Canada.

The grade 5 students at Herons Crossing School are participating in a year-long exploration of what makes someone a changemaker, learning about the impact that one person can have on a community's shared history, hopes & dreams, and future successes. In true changemaker fashion, during a class meeting where students were asked to share their hopes and dreams for the year, the students in 5J voiced a VERY strong desire to support and help those in need in our local community, which has led to the creation of Operation Joy! I am writing this note on behalf of 5J to tell you all about Operation Joy, our Ronald McDonald House fundraiser. Our goal is to raise $3000; enough money to purchase the entire RMH Christmas Wishlist and deliver the items to the families staying at the RMH over the Christmas holidays. I am beyond proud of the initiative this class has shown; it is so inspiring and makes me so proud! Every single person in 5J has shown compassion, excitement, and a willingness to work hard to make this a success! To raise the funds we require for our shopping trip, we will be doing a few fundraisers: 1) Hosting a craft table at the Herons Crossing Christmas Fair on November 24 & 25, which has been graciously donated by Parent Council. We are going to make & sell different Christmas items and baked goods. We will also have a raffle and a donation jar! 2) Seeking out community donations. We have sent letters to local businesses and advertisers, asking our community to support our cause! 3) School-wide sales of hot chocolate and candy canes! Once we have raised funds, the entire class will be heading to Walmart to purchase these gifts. We will have lunch at McDonald's (in Walmart) before heading to the Ronald McDonald House. This is an incredibly exciting time and we hope that you will work with us to make Operation Joy a success.
