Due to the COVID-19 situation, Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon has taken precautionary steps to keep our families safe while they stay at the House. This includes temporarily pausing our traditional fundraising events, as well as volunteer programs such as Family Meals and other activities that normally take place at the House. Together, we are all feeling the strain of the current situation – however, the RMH BC families are feeling the added strain of being far from home. What can you do to help? We are calling on your support to be a “House Champion from Home”. By joining the RMHBC COVID-19 Response team and fundraising, you are helping to ensure that we can continue to provide accommodation and a community of support for families at RMH BC. Not only will this help to pass your time indoors, but it will help to bring people together for a great cause, reminding everyone that no one is alone during this difficult time. Here are a few fun & safe virtual fundraising ideas: --> Physical Challenge: For every $X raised, commit to climbing flights of stairs, doing a number of push-ups, planks or some other physical feat! --> A “Shelf-Isolation” Read-A-Thon: Collect donations for the number of books you read at home --> All-Day Challenge for Charity: Do something you love for 8 hours straight such as playing a game, reading a book or building a puzzle! Stream it Live on Facebook or another social media platform to continue garnering support --> Steps at Home Challenge: Who can do the most steps in a day at home? Create your own Strava group challenge (https://www.strava.com/clubs/new) – it’s free! --> Virtual Run/Walk Challenge: Can’t run in groups outside? No problem! Pledge to run, walk, cycle or complete steps at home in order to cover any number of KM over any period of time. If you go outside, remember to maintain your social distance!
