WALKFORFAMILIES.ca #redshoecrew2021 I know what is it like to be a child needing to be hospitalized. It can be a frightening experience for children, it was for me Children vary in their capacities to cope with the stress of hospitalization. A significant proportion of them, however, suffer from some degree of emotional trauma due to the experience. The separation of the child from family members during admission causes most of the emotional upset. In 1981, I was in an accident that left me hospitalized for several weeks. The emotional trauma and sadness from being separated from my parents and family was overwhelming and I remember it to this day. In 1981, Newfoundland and Labrador didn't have a Ronald McDonald House for my parents. No child should fight illness or injury alone. I also know what it's like to see a child in the NICU - as you all know my beautiful granddaughter Bella-Boo was born 3 months pre-mature and it is essential to keep her parents and family close to her during this difficult and uncertain time. Today, you can make a difference in the lives of sick or injured by supporting Ronald McDonald House and helping give sick children what they need the most...their families. Share your HEART ❤️ and make your steps count for families at the annual Red Shoe Crew Walk for Families this September!!! I'll be walking Saturday September 25, 2021 at the St. John's Red Shoe Crew Walk For Families Event. The St. John's Red Shoe Crew-Walk for Families sponsored by Newfoundland Labrador Hydro will be this Saturday September 25, 2021 from 1-3pm at Bowring Park (field across from swimming pool). We are expecting Frontline Action, Royal Avalon Parties, The Norwegian Queen and the Fifth Spirit, Balloon Twisting by Jelly Bean Entertainment, Spoonful of Sugar Princesses, Spiderman, Batman, Iron Man, the Party Studio and so much more !!
