As volunteers of Ronald McDonald House, we see first-hand the difference the House makes in the lives of our families. The House offers a safe space, a welcoming atmosphere, and mostly, unwavering support to families going through a situation that every parent fears, the illness of their child. The House helps alleviate the worry about the everyday things, like where to stay, what to eat, where to do laundry, and allows them to fully focus on their child and their recovery. The gratitude expressed by the families clearly demonstrates that the House is making a positive impact during a very difficult time. The fundraising dollars helps support, not only the day to day operations of the House but special occasions like trips to the Magic Room, Birthdays, Christmas, and many special events helping to brighten their day and make things seem a little more normal. Studies have shown that being close to family helps sick children get well faster; this is an outcome we can all support!
